The Academic Hub of the New River Valley
Anyone considering relocating to the New River Valley is likely to look into living in Blacksburg. The city is located within Montgomery County, in the foothills of the Jefferson National Forest.
The setting is beautiful, the downtown vibrant, and the city is convenient, with access to Interstate 81 by way of Route 460.
Higher Education is available throughout the New River Valley, but it is most concentrated at Virginia Tech, in Blacksburg.

Families with children may choose the Montgomery County Public Schools, or one of the private schools. These include religious schools, Montessori, and the Blacksburg New School. Home schooling is popular here as well, due to the abundance of educational, recreational, and social activities.
Excellent public transportation, numerous walking and biking trails, including the Huckleberry Trail are highlights of life in Blacksburg.
